Wij komen in ieder geval zeker weer!
Dank
Loveday Smith uit oostzaan,
We were here over Easter and we had a brilliant holiday! The weather was amazing, even though it was March we were sitting out in the beautiful garden in short sleeves. The highlight of our holiday was our 4 year old son learning to ride a 2-wheeler all by himself and being able to come out on grown-up rides with us!! We had great confidence in taking him as the owners of Hello Velo offer a free pick-up service, so we knew if he got tired we could call for them to come in the van.
IT's a great place for families but there's also some more challenging cycling to be done which maybe when he's a little older we'll try (with back-up from Jo and Greg).
The accommodation is fantastic, very comfortable, with big beds for my big Dutch boyfriend. The food is also great. We mostly ate at Hello Velo (the full board option is very good value) but we did venture out for a couple of meals, there are plenty of places nearby to discover. We even spent a morning poking around at a vide grenier and came away with some amazing bargains.
All in all, I can't recommend this highly enough and my only disappointment is that we were not able to stay longer. We'll be back, that's for sure.
we spent a week here in August with our two boys aged 11 and 13. A beautiful, peaceful area off the beaten track. Jo and Greg provide a warm and friendly welcome and will help you plan as much or as little as you want - and come and pick you up if you can't be bothered to cycle home! Meals are sociable and delicious, taken around the huge table in the barn - an informal and convivial atmosphere. The barn has been converted into a fantastic space, quirkily and stylishly decorated - and our boys particularly enjoyed the table football.
The area is perfect for relaxed family cycling - a lovely canal towpath, swimming areas and small cafés within easy reach. The roads are quiet and not much in the way of hills - cycling by wheat fields and through quiet hamlets.
We joined in the local community family cycle ride one evening, of course being France delicious snacks and drinks were provided - a great authentic experience. We also enjoyed the 'salad competition' in the local market town!
It was pretty hot during our stay, so we appreciated the possibilities for swimming in rivers and lakes nearby. Earlier in the season might be better for longer cycle trips - so we'll have to return!
katy martinwood uit Sheffield,
Beautiful location, The Barn is a lovely family home- lovingly restored. We camped in the garden for 5 nights- 2 adults and 2 children and hired bikes through Jo and Greg for 3 days. We had breakfast and an evening meal in the main house with another family who were also staying. It really was a great combination of being active- loads of cycling in gorgeous surroundings- near canals and cooling down in rivers nearby but not having the hassle of shopping and cooking food. It was nice to go off and do your own thing but know that Jo and Greg the owners, will come and rescue you if you get lost or simply advise / organise your day for you if you want them to. It was lovely being part of the family and the children could all splash along together in the pool after a hot day's cycling. We will definitely come again. The nice bits of an alternative "all inclusive" holiday.
Now here's my 15 year old daughter Ruby's opinion; It was a lovely family holiday of which we enjoyed adventurous cycle routes and wild swimming in local lakes, rivers and canals. Brilliant food, and a gorgeous welcoming area!
Thankyou Jo and greg and solomon for such an enjoyable few days..
