Le Grand Cornet

Superfijn vakantiehuis met alle voorzieningen die je wenst. Met ons gezin genoten van tuin en omgeving. Erg gastvrije eigenaren die alles voor je (willen) doen. Zeker een aanrader!

Wij hebben 2 weken met enorm veel plezier vakantie gevierd in deze vakantiewoning. Een prachtig verbouwde woning waarbij de oude originele onderdelen van het pand gecombineerd worden met gewenste luxe van deze tijd. Daarnaast een heerlijke locatie met veel ruimte en natuur rond het huis. Onze kinderen hebben dagelijks met plezier de kippen bezocht en gevoerd. Daarnaast is de service, de gastvrijheid en de vriendelijkheid van de eigenaren uniek! Ook de uitgebreide gids met tips voor mooie activiteiten en restaurants in de buurt is super. Uiteindelijk zorgt de diversiteit van de regio met prachtige stadjes/dorpen, kastelen, grotten, meren en rivierstrandjes voor een prachtige invulling van de vakantieweken!

We had a great week, Gary and Jo made us very welcome. The gites have been restored to a high standard, modern facilities combined with original architecture.

“If you could design a home away from home in France, this would be it.” These have been by far the best gites we have stayed in for size, comfort and cleanliness. There is no air conditioning, which on our first night caused a few problems, but on the second night we found that the shutters fit so well you can keep the windows wide open and still keep out the mosquitoes and moths and get some lovely cool night air in which is much healthier for you than aircon. All plugs are French and there is a washing machine and dishwasher in each gite along with gas cooker, fridge freezer and microwave.
The small village of Saint Severin is only a 15 min walk away and there are a couple of places to get cooked food and also a SPAR shop for purchasing essentials.
My two youngest spent hours trying to catch lizards in the back gardens, and my teenage daughter spent her time on the sun lounger connected to facebook and youtube on an excellent internet connection. Internet is assigned to each gite separately so there is no problem with data hogs next door.
If you come with extended family you can open the gate between the gites and keep the main gates closed so that younger children are safe and can move between both gites if needed.
There is also a large trampoline, and petanque pitch to keep the kids entertained, though you will need to stay with younger children as there is a lovely stream running through and near the trampoline.
I suspect that next year these newly built gites will be booked very quickly and I hope that I am one that manages to get a booking.

We stayed at Le Petit Raisin for 4 days and it was one of the most enjoyable stays ever. Great place, good locations near beautiful small town and a huge thank you to Jo and her husband for being such wonderful hosts. The fresh eggs from their chickens were a great treat. The house was very clean, extremely comfortable and well equipped with all the essentials you need for a relaxing weekend away in just outside Bordeaux. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay while in this beautiful countryside.
