fantastische locatie, heel rustig, vriendelijke eigenaars, mooi zwembad.
Retford uit Northamptonshire ,
Lovely peaceful setting, on the edge of a forest and amongst nature. The gite was very spacious and it was equipped with everything you would need. The stone building was much appreciated in the August heatwave, along with the good sized swimming pool, which we used daily.
Two of the residential cats (we named them The Twins) would greet us every morning, just before we set out for the day. Freddie the dog was slightly pre-occupied with his new cheeky sister, Bella a rescue dog.
Both Richard and David were very charming and welcoming. They were there if you needed them, otherwise they left you to it, which we liked.
My mother and I had a thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay at La Maison des Amis, and hope to return sometime in the future.
David Weston uit St Front la Riviere,

Beautiful place and location to stay, we got a very warm welcome from Richard and David who provided a very well appreciated welcome pack including a lovely little Christmas tree. The decor at the place is lovely with every amenity you could possibly need and more. We had a lovely time spending Christmas here and will definitely like to return for a summer break. Thank you Richard and David.

A wonderful property with excellent amenities , within easy reach of the charming town of Brantome. We have stayed 2 years in row for a family holiday and the second year was even better than the first. The owners are extremely welcoming, allowing us to enjoy the tranquil surroundings. For an excellent French holiday and an escape from city life, this can't be beaten. The cottage has lots of character, is very well equipped (TV, washing machine, dishwasher, all the pots, crockery etc you could possibly need, comfy couches, white linen beds), tastefully decorated, spacious and comfortable, with ample outdoor space (evening bbq's sitting under the stars) and greenery. Our children enjoyed the outdoor pool (with cover, so never cold) and being able to roam free, feeding carrots to the horses and playing in the woodlands. There are several interesting towns, chateau's, farmer markets and other attractions in the area - certainly our two busy boys never got bored. Brantome is a particularly pleasant town (10min's by car), offering a wide array of restaurants, cafe's and bars; all the shopping you need and entertainment (a kayak trip down the river being one of the highlights).
“Heaven!”

We have just returned after a wonderful two weeks. The gite is fantastic!! Everything you needed was supplied even down to the pure white luxury towelling robes. Luxury bedding along with extremly comfy beds. The pictures do not give this gite justice. The pool was great and was 30 degrees everyday. Richard & David were pure gents and were so helpful and caring. Freddie their dog was a big old softie and will be missed. I fell in love with this place and could not hold back the tears when we departed, I would highly recommend a holiday to this beautiful gite. Our favourite town of Brantome is just a short drive away and is an essential visit to any visitor, the canoeing there is a must for a fun family time. We will be back again. Thank you Richard & David for memories to treasure.

Peace and quiet near charming towns in the Perigord Vert. Beautiful large property with lake and swimming pool, a well and tastefully equipped house, gracious hosts - a haven in La France Profonde. Everything one needs for a perfect holiday. A 'survival kit' on arrival was much appreciated.
“A rural idyll - with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing break”

A lovely tranquil rural location where your only immediate neighbours are the wildlife. We arrived to a warm and friendly welcome from Richard, David and Freddie the Dog. David kindly helped move our cases inside the property and upstairs to the bedrooms. My partner was impressed with the fact that absolutely everything you needed for your stay was provided. The wifi worked perfectly and we were able to watch all the BBC TV channels. So we had a quiet and peaceful location, but never felt cut off. La Maison Des Amis is a spacious property fitted out with comfortable beds and furniture. I suffer from bad arthritis and found the easy access walk in shower very helpful. Within easy reach of Brantome, Perigueux, the Caves at Villars, and several Chateaux. Only a short drive from the picturesque village of St. Jean-de-Cole which should not be missed. Driving to and from the property we saw black squirrels, deer as well as the odd Buzzard. I would definitely recommend.
“A hidden gem!!!!”

Recently stayed in this accommodation for 3 nights at the back end of July 2014and had a great time. When we arrived the owners were very pleasant and accommodating which was much appreciated after a long drive. The property itself is gorgeous, holds a lot of character and offers plenty of living space and all the necessary necessities to make your trip highly enjoyable. It is also set in acres of land, to which i took advantage going for am early morning jog, followed by a cool off in the outdoor pool( the pool has a roof so wasn't to cold) can't recommend this place highly enough, only disappointment not staying for longer
“The quietest place on earth”

Absolutely magically peaceful and quiet with only the cock crowing in the morning to break the silence. This stylish and characterful conversion of an old winery on an historic Domaine was comfortable in every respect - literally home from home. The beds were comfortable with inviting bedlinen and soft towels. La Maison d'Amis was furnished with every comfort and well equipped including a wood burning stove which proved a blessing during the early cooler part of the week. This is certainly the place to unwind and recharge the batteries and how we wish we could have remained longer. The owners were pleasant, welcoming and helpful and had the addition of a magnificent dog, Freddie.
“Perfect tranquility deep in the Perigord Vert with all mod-cons!”

Although we are very familiar with this area over many years La Maison d'Amis was a delightful discovery set in a deep, rural area of the Perigord Vert. The charming market town of Brantome is barely 20 mins by car and there are beautiful chateaux and many ancient villages nearby. A car is very necessary. The route was very clearly defined and our extremely friendly hosts, Richard and David, not to mention Freddy the dog, were there to welcome us in on a wet afternoon. The accommodation was excellent with everything required for our comfort supplied, including logs for the wood burning stove. An amazing 'Welcome' package left in the large family fridge plus home baked bread gave us an excellent kick start! We only used the main bedroom and ensuite shower, which were very comfortable and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was masses of wardrobe and drawer space. Due to inclement weather during our 7 day stay we were glad of the Sky + WiFi amenities which gave us access to Brit programmes and enabled us to listen to Radio 4. Sadly, we were unable to use the pool or the lake due to the weather conditions but did check them out visually and it all looked superb. The grounds are very extensive so ensure you take your walking boots! We would certainly use this Gite again and have no hesitation in giving it maximum scores. Many thanks Richard, David and Freddy!
“Great holiday, beautiful location in terrific Gite”

Our family really enjoyed our stay at La Maison d'Amis near Brantome. The Gite was very welcoming, well equipped and nicely furnished with generously sized rooms all in a beautiful setting in the grounds of a beautiful manor house. The pool was great, the gardens are enormous and the BBQ was well used! Even the lake and rowing boat was a welcome addition. The nearby towns of Brantome, Bourdilles and St Jean de Cole are just lovely.
“Wonderful.”

This year we stayed in this cottage for the second time. We used to live nearby this place for 20 years and we knew the owners as friends. We saw the stables transferring in this "Maison des Amis" and when we had to sell our house in the Dordogne in May 2012 we immediately booked for August 2012 for 3 weeks. Since we have lots of friends in the surrounding we came back this year in July and we will surely come back next year. Since this house is large, comfortable and has a lovely garden to sit in the sun and under the big chestnut-tree, it has no need to look for another place. There is wi-fi, a beautiful heated swimming pool , which can be covered, and a super lake on the property.
”Charming House, beautiful location. Very comfortable.”

We stayed here for two weeks, myself, husband and daughter of ten. We were warmly welcomed on arrival late at night. The owners were very helpful and friendly and ensured that we had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. The photographs do not really reflect the charm of this house, especially its location. The house is part of an old Manor House associated with a nearby chateau, now ruined. The grounds are extensive with beautiful trees, a lake, lovely paths for walking and plenty interesting wildlife. The interior is very cool in warm weather. There is a comfortable living/dining room with television, sky box and DVD player.
The upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, freshly decorated and very clean and comfortable. The swimming pool has a lovely patio with deck chairs which is not reflected in the photographs. The pool is also covered which means that it is constantly warm, the owners removed part of the cover when it got very hot and this was very refreshing to swim in. There is a lovely grassy area with beautiful trees outside the house, the owners provided garden furniture and we spent a lot of time sitting there relaxing under a huge chestnut tree. The beautiful town of Brantome is about a twenty minute drive on a very pretty and scenic road, there are other small towns which are closer with all amenities available. The kitchen has everything you might need including large fridge freezer and dishwasher, plenty of crockery and cooking utensils. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming holiday house and especially enjoyed the beautiful and tranquil location
