This is the second year in a row we visited Pern2 for our summer holiday. I am reviewing these visits with the background that we seek a holiday where privacy and relaxation is key and a proper location where limited mobility is not a problem. My wife is now confined to a wheel chair. Finding a good location is not that easy.
But I can safely say, this place (Pern2) is an absolute treat. We have been going on holiday to this region for many years, and Pern2 is the best place by far. Total privacy, big house with plenty of room for large groups and to be honest........everything is there. The kitchen perhaps jumping out...........it is hug, has really got everything you that you would expect from a holiday house....and then some. We were pleasantly surprised. It clearly shows that this house is prepared for adults....but also for small kids. The place even has a private play garden. The same thing can be said about the bedrooms. Lots of space there too. There are 3 bedrooms at ground level and there are 6 (i believe) beds in the attic in one area. I am quite tall so I cannot stand up in that area. These need to bee seen as places to sleep and nothing more. Limited luxury there.
Pern2 is located in a region where it can be very hot (we had 40C at some point). The thickness of the walls keep temperatures inside relatively low. So no damp nights keeping you awake. One bedroom even has an overhead fan.
And then there is the bathroom..................two to be exact. These have been revamped just before we came this year, so we were treated with new bathrooms. (Last time I looked, the bathroom pictures on the site are still the old ones) The "master" bathroom allows access by wheel chair.
In summer time there is actually only one place you want to be....outside. There is a huge terrace, partially shielded from the sun (or rain if you are unlucky) and an outdoor fixed BBQ. What more can you want. Around the house plenty of trees for shade and privacy. The care taker lives next door, but he will only visit when asked. They are friendly people, and with my bad French and his bad English....we can communicate fine.
The rent price is quite steep/high but I can assure you, it is worth it.
Per2 is located in "agriculture" area. Farm land all around...........so very quite. and if that is what you are looking for, this place is a must visit. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty to do and see in the region. You can read about that in other reviews but for me this is the place to relax and unwind from the crazy busy society we live in nowadays. I am in the process of booking our 3rd summer holiday in a row here........that must mean something.
Rent the place....bring your friends/family....you will not be disappointed.

This house is great! Its medieval castle-appearance, and cosiness made us have a fantastic week just with the two of us! The house is fully equipped with all the contemporary electronic equipment, i.e. oven, dish washer, washing machine, WiFi, etc. The surrounding nature is absolutely fabulous! It is lovely quiet, and has marvelous views. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a peaceful state-of-mind holiday! And last but not least: Dorothy was a wonderful hostess: very kind, and always responded quickly to our questions,

3 weken lang genoten van een erg rustig gelegen huis met alle comfort binnen en buiten. de beheerder woont er direct naast en is zeer behulpzaam indien nodig. het huis ligt in een glooiend land- en tuinbouw gebied met prachtige vergezichten en kleurschakeringen.
wij hebben er gefietst, soms pittig, en gegolfd op een zeer glooiende 9 holesbaan met een prima clubhuis.
in de omgeving bekende plaatsen als Cahors, maar ook veel middeleeuwse kleine dorpjes.
meer dan de moeite waard om in deze regio en in dit huis te verblijven. aanbevolen!!

van een huurder. Beste verhuurder, Afgelopen zomer huurden we met 2 gezinnen het vakantiehuis Pern2. Het was een zeer geslaagde vakantie, en dat had veel te maken met de fijne locatie. Het huis is heel goed onderhouden, en was echt super netjes toen we er aankwamen. De kamers zijn ruim, net als de slaapzolder. Handig ook als je er, zoals wij, met 2 gezinnen logeert, was dat er 2 badkamers zijn! De kamers zijn voorzien van luiken en de keuken van rolluiken, waardoor je het ook binnen lekker fris kan houden. Fijn ook dat er een wasmachine was, zo kon ik grote badhanddoeken en favoriete kleedjes tussendoor eens wassen. Het zwembad 'met springplank' (vooral dat laatste moest ik van man en kinderen even vermelden! de wedstrijden sierduiken waren een waar festijn) zorgde voor de nodige verfrissing! En dat er een overdekt terras is, is zeker ook een meerwaarde. Daardoor was het te allen tijde dragelijk om buiten te zitten en te eten. En dat er ook een ingebouwde bbq op het terras was, vonden wij wel leuk! Naast het zwembad, is er een leuke speelhoek/tuin gemaakt voor de kinderen, met schommels en een trampoline. Gelegen tussen de bomen, dus in de schaduw, ideaal om de warmste uren van de dag door te brengen. De omgeving. Het huis is heel rustig gelegen, dus voor wie de rust zoekt: dit is de plek waar je moet zijn. Keerzijde van deze rust, is dat je wel even onderweg bent naar een bakker en de supermarkt. Goede boodschappenlijstjes maken is de boodschap! en er is een ruime koelkast, met vriesvak, dus dagelijks hoef je nu ook weer niet op pad. Er zijn hele leuke en mooie wandelingen te maken in de omgeving, en voor mensen die graag fietsen, is deze streek zeker ook een aanrader. De dichtste stad, is Castelnau Montratier (8 km) en Cahors (15 km). We gingen er meermaals heen. Er is een toeristische dienst met info over zowat alles wat je in de hele regio kan doen (en dat is heel wat). Maar ook de stad zelf, in het bijzonder het oude stadsgedeelte is de moeite waard ! En ook het pittoreske kunstenaarsdorp Saint-Cirq-Lapopie moet je zeker eens bezoeken. Het is een plaatje! Vriendelijke groet, Bea, België. 2013.
